SAN JOSE — Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS) presents its crowd-pleasing line-up of hot Asian comics as the seventh annual Asian Comedy Night returns on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Le Petit Trianon in San Jose.
Headlining this year is Rex Navarrete, a nationally recognized comedian who has released his second DVD, “Badass Madapaka!,” starred in his own television series for MTV Philippines, and voiced characters in the animated feature “The Nutshack.” Navarrete has worked alongside such comedy stars as George Lopez, D L Hughley and Paul Mooney.
Featured is Ali Wong, a Vietnamese-Chinese comedienne who is creating a heavy buzz in the local comedy scene. A native San Franciscan, she brings a unique blend of raunchiness, ethnic accents and physical comedy packaged in a girl with her trademark Chun-Li buns hairstyle.
Le Petit Trianon is located at 72 N. 5th St. near City Hall and across a free parking structure. Shows are 6 and 9 p.m.
There are three levels of seating: general ($20), VIP and reception with stars ($30), and limited on-stage seating and reception with stars ($40).
Purchase tickets on line at www.brownpapertickets.com or call (800) 838-3006. Tickets are also available at Nikkei Traditions in Japantown at 219 Jackson St., (408) 297-7554 (cash or check only).
