Actress Patti Yasutake, who had a recurring role as Nurse Alyssa Ogawa in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” from 1990 to 1994, has finally been turned into an action figure.
The seven-inch likeness was unveiled by Diamond Select Toys last month and will be available in January. While action figures of the show’s other cast members have been available for many years, Yasutake said that this is Nurse Ogawa’s debut, as far as she knows.
Yasutake joins other Asian American actors who have been turned into “Star Trek” action figures: George Takei (Hikaru Sulu in the original series), Rosalind Chao (Keiko O’Brien in “Deep Space Nine”), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim in “Voyager”) and Linda Park (Hoshi Sato in “Enterprise”).
Yasutake, who last played Ogawa in the movies “Star Trek: Generations” (1994) and “Star Trek: First Contact” (1996), continues to appear on TV in such shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Bones,” “The Unit,” “Boston Legal,” “Crossing Jordan” and “ER.” She has also done commercials for such companies as AT&T, Hewlett-Packard, H&R Block, CIT, Microsoft and MasterCard.
