Ikebana Show in South Bay

CUPERTINO — Featuring the blazing colors of autumn, the Wafu Ikebana Society presents its large, biennial flower show this weekend.

Nearly 160 arrangements in an extensive array of styles will be displayed, and talented artists will demonstrate this exquisite art, discussing the materials and techniques used.

The show takes place at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Rd., (408) 777-3120. It is located off the 280 and 85 freeways, 50 minutes south of San Francisco via 280 and 15 minutes north of San Jose. The center is across Stevens Creek Boulevard from De Anza College.

Hours are Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20-21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Demonstrations featuring various artists will be presented at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. both days.

Exhibit and demonstrations are free, but a $5 per person donation to the Wafu Ikebana Society is welcome.

An easy one-block walk from the Quinlan Community Center, parking is available at De Anza College for $2 per day. Limited on-street parking around the center is free.
