OAKLAND — Master bonsai artist Kathy Shaner, along with a team of volunteers, will be repotting many of the trees in the Bonsai Collection in Oakland’s Lakeside Park on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.

The public is invited to attend to watch this process.

The collection is located at 650 Bellevue Ave., past the Garden Center on the left and approximately opposite the boathouse on Lake Merritt. Directions may be found on-line at: http://web.mac.com/ ltferzoco/ iWeb/ GSBF/ Directions.html.

The Golden State Bonsai Federation Collection North is Northern California’s only public bonsai collection and is located in the Demonstration Garden at Lakeside Park. This permanent collection ensures that precious trees and stones by outstanding masters and collectors will be preserved for everyone’s enjoyment.

The chairman is Seiji Shiba. Shaner, the curator, is the only Japanese-certified bonsai master in the U.S.
