Taikoza, a New York-based Japanese music and dance group founded by Marco Lienhard, has been performing worldwide since 1995 at such venues as symphony halls, Asian festivals, corporate events and school shows. Its repertoire includes both traditional and new compositions played on taiko of various sizes, koto, shakuhachi and fue.
In 2004, “Beginnings,” Taikoza’s first album, was nominated for a Just Plain Folks Music Award.
Lienhard, a native of Switzerland, was a member of the internationally acclaimed taiko group Ondekoza from 1981 to 1994. While touring as a professional taiko player in Japan, he studied shakuhachi under masters Teruo Furuya and Katsuya Yokoyama, becoming a virtuoso solo artist.
